Precautions for a wonderful holiday season
The holiday season is an opportunity to meet with family and friends. It is also a period filled with thousands of light bulbs and wonderful Christmas trees that light up the night and warm our hearts. To prevent this pleasant time of the year to turn into a nightmare, here are a few guidelines to follow (PDF in French).

In case of disaster or accident the firefighters will provide quick assistance
On their inspections of residential, commercial and industrial buildings, firefighters give valuable information on prevention. They are in charge of the plans of attacks. They can also arrange for a visit at the fire station and help educational institutions organize a fire exit drill.

Take all necessary precautionary steps to fireproof your home!
In the house, have more than one smoke detector and check them out periodically.
Ensure that you have an evacuation plan for your residence. Plan two evacuation routes and decide on a meeting place.
Sweep your chimney regularly to avoid the build-up of creosote on chimney flue walls.
Install the barbecue or the exterior fireplace at least 3 metres away from any type of building.
Never store or use propane in any building, garage, or enclosed space.
