Dog licences

In order to facilitate the distribution of medals on its territory, the City is now in a position to proceed with the sale of dog tags for 2017. Dog owners must register their animals by obtaining an identification tag (license), which must be renewed each year.

Owners whose dog has a 2016 license are required to apply for renewal by August 1.

New approach to registering your dog and obtaining or renewing a tag

1 – On the Internet by registering at Emili – Gestionnaire animalier

To proceed, you must first register on Emili.net. You will then receive an e-mail link to your personal portal. You will have to fill in the profile of the dog concerned, then pay* the cost for the medal that will be sent to you by post. The cost of an online medal is $15, plus $3 for handling and postage.

* Online payment payable by credit card only.

2 – At the reception desk at City Hall

Persons without a computer or mobile device may go to the reception desk at City Hall (5 D’Youville Boulevard) during office hours to obtain their tags, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 13:15 p.m. to 17:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

65 and older, visually impaired and disabled people can get a free medal for their dog. In order to get it, they must go to the reception desk at City Hall.

New technology

The tags are now embedded with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which links your pet to its Internet profile. Anyone who finds your lost dog is therefore able, through its tag, to easily access public information related to its profile and contact you promptly. To be able to read the tag, you must have an Android device equipped with NFC. Also, any smart phone users can access its dog’s page at emili.net/10-(your dog’s number).

Ville de Châteauguay will like to remind that as per municipal bylaw, dog owners are liable to a $100 fine if their dog is not registered.
