Thinking of renovating the house? Or building a shed? Before you begin a construction project, make sure you follow the rules that could save you from bad incidents.
In most cases, a license is required. If a license is not needed, observance of the regulations is required nevertheless.
Whether you want to build a garage or a patio, to install a swimming pool, it is imperative you first obtain a license before you begin the project.
Depending on the nature of the work, the (Permits Department) Service des permis will inform of the rules in force and can even give you references so you succeed with your project.
Other projects, such as fences, hedges, some retaining walls, do not require a permit but must, nonetheless, respect certain standards. It is better to get all the necessary information before you begin. Why not bring your certificate of location and ask for clarification on the bylaws in effect, or request a permit.
It is possible to meet with one of the officers of the (Permits Department) Service des permis, from Monday to Friday, by appointment.

Dog Park (without leash)
The municipal bylaw also requires that when in a public place your dog is on a leash that measures no more than 2 metres in length.
Châteauguay has a dog park located at the entrance of the Centre écologique Fernand-Seguin, where dogs can run around without a leash under the condition that the owner remains on site to pick up the excrement and ensure its safety, as well as the safety of other visitors.
With an area of 1400 square meters, the dog park is entirely fenced-in. You can gain access to the park via Brisebois Boulevard every day between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Some rules must also be observed.
