Starting December 1st, 2015: Overnight parking prohibited

Tuesday, 24 November, 2015

Châteauguay, November 23, 2015 – Ville de Châteauguay would like to remind motorists that from December 1st of this year to April 1st 2016, it is prohibited to leave any automobile parked on the streets from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The by-law aims to facilitate the work of municipal employees assigned to snow removal in the streets of the city.

Any violation of the by-law carries a minimum fine of $40, plus related costs.

Exemptions on boulevard Rousseau

The above provision does not apply to certain sections of boulevard Rousseau where overnight parking is permitted. For the list of exemptions, citizens are invited to consult chapter IV of by-law G 1309 on traffic and parking in Ville de Châteauguay. This by-law is available on the website of the City at www.ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/stationnement-nuit.

Remember…

A street that is poorly ploughed due to an illegally parked vehicle overnight increases the risk of accidents and obstructs emergency vehicles;

A well ploughed street increases safety for road users, especially children and persons with reduced mobility;

A vehicle that is towed entails costs, time loss and inconvenience for the offending driver.
