The Écomarché celebrates its 10th anniversary

Héritage Saint-Bernard is offering an even more "eco-friendly" and festive edition of the Écomarché de l'île, on Île Saint-Bernard in Châteauguay. Presented by Desjardins, the event will be held for the first time over three days on August 23 to 25 and will welcome more than a hundred artisans. For the occasion, the cultural component has been improved, making it possible to offer free artistic services on a continuous basis, including renowned artists! A zero waste zone has been added to the event, which will inspire even the most eco-friendly among us! Finally, foodtrucks will be at the heart of the festivities to complete the meal offer on site.

Exhibitors will be grouped into one of eight categories: food, alcohol, health and care, jewellery, fashion, crafts, toddlers and organizations. They will welcome festival-goers by offering their best products on Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the official opening hours of the event.

Shows, entertainment and free services!

In addition to an unparalleled juggler, Bekka Rose, and artists who have been at the heart of the event's programming for several years now, such as EkHo, André Gagné and La Vielle à roue, three major shows will be held: the fantastic Emilie Kahn will open the festivities with a show presented on Friday, August 23 at 5:15 p.m. On Saturday, August 24 at 1 p.m., the Clay and Friends band, which was a great success at the Festival de Jazz à Verdun, will be on hand to brighten up the site. Finally, with his catchy melodies and lyrics and his extraordinary sense of humour, Jérôme 50 will be performing on Sunday, August 25 at 1 p.m. Presented by the Roussillon MRC, the cultural program is completely free!

New zero waste zone

To promote the environmental aspect of the event, a new zero waste zone will be proposed for the very first time, with renowned speakers, specialized craftspeople, workshops and much more. The star of this new zone, the zero waste apartment, presented by the Association québécoise Zéro Déchet, will transform the Villa Marguerite, an ancestral building that is not usually accessible to the public. The conference programming is also completely free of charge (no reservation required – In French only).

Access to the site and other important information!

To access the site, shuttles will continuously relay between the incentive parking lots and the festivities site. The shuttle service is offered free of charge, thanks to the participation of exo. Héritage Saint-Bernard also reminds us that using active transportation, such as walking and cycling, is an excellent idea, entirely in line with the event's values! Carpooling is also strongly recommended. As the event is moving towards zero waste, Héritage Saint-Bernard reminds visitors to bring their flasks, coffee glasses and shopping bags!

An event for the benefit of nature!

With the primary mission of conserving natural environments, Héritage Saint-Bernard is committed to reinvesting the donations raised during the event in projects aimed at improving the quality of ecosystems. Over the next year, greenhouse gas emissions generated by the Island's Écomarché will be offset by the planting of trees. In this way, the organization will continue its environmental mission, for the benefit of biodiversity, citizens and future generations.

The event is held on 480 Boulevard D'Youville, Châteauguay, QC J6J 5T9

Héritage Saint-Bernard would like to thank all the event's partners for their contribution and great trust.
