Obstacles to road circulation

Honoré-Mercier Bridge

Industriel Boulevard

As part of the redevelopment work on Industriel Boulevard, the section between Ford and Pierre-Boursier Boulevards will be open to one-way traffic only from the NORTH to the SOUTH, from Highway 30 to Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, starting Tuesday, August 13. Everyone is asked to respect the deployed signage and use the detour road established via Ford Boulevard.

Honoré-Mercier Bridge

The ministère des Transports will be working on the bridge over the weekend of August 16. As a result, a lane will be open to the south shore from Saturday, 4 a.m. to Monday, 5 a.m. (August 17-19). Both lanes towards Montreal will be open.

Public transportation measures

  • Extension of the business hours of the multipurpose lane on Highway 132/138: from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week, throughout the duration of the work.
  • The Exo service schedule for the Haut-Saint-Laurent and Sud-Ouest buses will be maintained and buses (articulated buses) will be added to ensure regular service during work.
  • Free public transportation from June 26 to 28, 2019. o Free trips on Exo Haut-Saint-Laurent and Sud-Ouest buses that cross the Honoré-Mercier Bridge.
  • Free train rides on the Exo4 Candiac line. o Users will be given STM fares when boarding at the Candiac, Delson, Saint-Constant and Sainte-Catherine stations.
  • Users will be given STM fares when disembarking from Haut-Saint-Laurent and Sud-Ouest buses that take the bridge.

Measures linked to trucking

  • Traffic ban for trucks with three or more axles during peak hours on weekdays: from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., towards Montréal. o From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., towards Châteauguay.
  • Free passage for class 2* vehicles (road vehicles whose height is equal to or greater than 230 cm) on Highway 30 from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., towards Vaudreuil-Dorion from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., towards Brossard.

Measures to entice people to changing their itinerary

  • Extension of peak hours at the Victoria Bridge: from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., two lanes heading towards Montréal. o From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., two lanes towards the South Shore.
  • However, heavy trucks remain prohibited on the Victoria Bridge.

The reconstruction of the Honoré-Mercier Bridge (provincial portion) is in the planning stages, as indicated in the 2019–2029 Québec Infrastructure Plan. Until this major project is completed, further interventions are expected to maintain the infrastructure operational and safe.
