Fire Prevention Week

Tuesday, 2 October, 2012

This year’s Fire Prevention Week will be held from October 7 to 13, 2012 with the theme Our evacuation plan is done!
To mark the Fire Prevention Week, the Châteauguay fire department invite you to an Open House on Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the fire station located 20 D’Anjou Boulevard in Châteauguay.

The public is invited to visit the facilities. There will also be inflated structures for the children to enjoy. Personnel will be on site to answer your questions concerning your evacuation plan. The Châteauguay fire department invites the public to attend!

Did you know?

– Coroner reports for the last three years reveal that during a fire it is most often the smoke, and not the flames, that was the cause of death.
– In the worst case you have less than three minutes to evacuate a house on fire, because of the smoke. Imagine if the fire starts when the whole family is sleeping!
– The success of an evacuation during a fire depends on the time given to its preparation.

The Great Evacuation

“The Great Evacuation” is an activity in which all citizens, especially families, are asked to test their smoke detectors the same day, at the same time, to practice their escape plan. Take part in The Great Evacuation, on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. This activity takes place in the streets of all Québec.
