Old-fashioned family hockey games

équipe de hockey d'antan

In the context of the Châteauguay event Châteauguay, a Christmas Story

The City of Châteauguay is organizing a mini family ball hockey tournament. The goal is to recreate the pleasure of playing as a family in old-time fashion. The Agora citoyenne will be laid out for the occasion into three game areas with boards made of hay bales; an organist will play tunes from the time period; an animator from the crowd will do the play-by-play commentary of the games in the style of René Lecavalier, and the players will wear old team sweaters and will be equipped with good old wooden sticks. The team jerseys, sticks and security glasses are all supplied by the City.

The teams must consist of six (6) to eight (8) players including at least one (1) child aged 12 and under, as well as at least one person of each sex. We are encouraging the players to dress and equip themselves in an old-fashioned way (with old helmets and old gloves) and to bring a common element which will distinguish their team (for example, wearing a scarf or a tuque). Two first prizes will be presented: to the most “vintage”-looking team in its dress and team spirit, as well as to the winning team of the mini-tournament.  Door prizes of all kinds will also be distributed and all the players will have access to the dressing room where they will be served pizza, snacks and soft drinks.

Registration:

Interested teams must register by filling out the online form bellow. They must supply the names and birthdates of the team members and they must compose a small text of about 100 words explaining he reasons that motivated them to register for this old-fashioned game.

Information: Félix Dufour Labrecque or Étienne Legault at 450-698-3108.

Cost: Free. Good humour and team spirit are required!

Schedule: From 1-6 p.m.  All teams must be present at the Agora citoyenne no later than 12:30 p.m.
