PREVENTIVE MEASURE: Temporary dams

With Lake Erie at maximum capacity, it is off-loaded in Lake Ontario to balance the impacts of high water levels, resulting in the release of Lake Ontario into the St. Lawrence River and Lake Saint-Louis. The level of Lake Saint-Louis is therefore slightly higher, just like our river, and is now at 22.42 metres.

Despite this high level, the City does not anticipate flood risk at this moment. However, as a preventative measure, the City has builded temporary dikes between the Adirondacks Bridge and Smith Street, and from the Parc de la Commune to the Edmour Street.

Please note that the La Commune and Joseph-Allard parks are flooded and therefore closed.

Watch our Facebook page to follow the latest developments concerning the Châteauguay River level.
