Football '' Jamboree '': A huge success

The big football celebration held last Saturday in Joseph-Laberge park was a success on all fronts. This festive gathering marked the beginning of the football season for our young athletes, who showed off their know-how to a crowd of over 400 spectators. To wind up the jamboree, a Quebec Junior Football League game was held between the Raiders of Châteauguay and the Bulldogs of Laval at Louis-Philippe-Paré high school. Our peewee and bantam local teams won their match.

Work on the chalet completed

The new chalet in Joseph-Laberge park, for which the work is now complete, was used for the first time during these festivities. The official opening is slated for this fall. In addition to being handy for football teams, the chalet, which includes a locker room and a multipurpose room, has a large dock for pleasure boats to tie up with a rest area for walkers. The City also plans to rent kayaks and bikes in order to expand the range of activities at Joseph-Laberge park and fully benefit from its location on the banks of the Châteauguay River. Residents will also be able to rent the multipurpose room starting in 2020.
