Traffic and Sustainable Mobility Working Committees: Citizens asked to give their opinion

piste cyclable

Ville de Châteauguay is calling on local residents who would like to sit on one of two working committees, formed of municipal employees, advisors and citizens, called the Traffic Committee and the Sustainable Mobility Committee, to express their interest in writing.

The main mandate of the committees is to analyze requests received from citizens or counsellors and the studies by the police department in order to make recommendations to the Municipal Council to improve or change the by-laws on various issues related to traffic and mobility in the Châteauguay region.

The Traffic Committee focuses, among other things, on issues related to speed, stop signs and traffic lights, whereas the Sustainable Mobility Committee concentrates on such issues as the location of parking spaces and the configuration of streets and bike paths.

Meetings are mainly held during the day, or in late afternoon, approximately once every six weeks. Financial compensation of $35 per resident is provided for each meeting attended.

Those interested in joining one of these committees can submit their application to general management, by sending an email containing their full name, address, telephone number and the number of years they have been Châteauguay residents to dgen@ville.chateauguay.qc.ca before January 13, 2019.
