Special Intervention Zone: Châteauguay Officially Withdrawn from the Order in Council

The Ville de Châteauguay was informed in the last few days that the Government of Quebec adopted the amendment to Order in Council 817-2019 concerning the special intervention zone (ZIS) on Friday, August 23. The information was published on the website of the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation on Monday, August 26 at approximately 3 p.m.

That same evening, the City sent the concerned owners a newsletter mentioning this amendment, confirming that all City properties that were affected by the order in council in question have been removed and are no longer part of the special intervention zone.

Therefore, the situation of the flood-prone areas of the Ville de Châteauguay is as it was on January 1, 2019, with no changes having been made.

ʺI would like to thank all the owners who attended the August 7 meeting,ʺ wrote Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier in the message addressed to the owners. Some of them thanked the City for hosting this meeting, which allowed them to learn more about the situation and feel supported by their municipality.
