October 2: First organic waste collection

Don’t forget to place your brown bin at the curb on the evening of October 1, because the new organic waste collection is starting on October 2 in Châteauguay.

By collecting organic waste, the Roussillon Regional County Municipality (MRC) is complying with the objectives established by the Quebec Residual Materials Management Policy.

For any questions related to this ecoresponsible initiative, feel free to refer to the handy guide. The MRC’s info-collectes site (in French only) also contains a plethora of useful information to help you get ready to start collecting.

The MRC is taking the opportunity to change its Info-collectes service by improving its customer services. Citizens can now contact the organic waste collection team in the following ways:

Online – by filling in an application form online at www.roussillon.ca/infocollectes

By telephone – 514 928-5227

By email – infocollectes@mrcroussillon.qc.ca

Green waste

You can place your excess green waste in paper bags and put out the paper bags next to your brown bin on the pick-up day. However, make sure that you comply with the required clearance of 60 centimetres (2 feet) between the bin and any paper bags.

New calendar

Starting this week, garbage collection (black bin) will be once every two weeks. The next collection will be on Friday, October 4 (North-West sector) and Thursday, October 10 (East sector). For more information about the frequency of garbage collection, visit roussillon.ca/GMRcalendrier (in French only).
