Jeux du Québec: Last Stage Completed in Bid to Host the 57th Finals in 2022

Tuesday, 12 November, 2019

Châteauguay, November 12, 2019 – On Friday, November 1, Ville de Châteauguay proudly and enthusiastically submitted its final candidature file to become the host city of the 57th Finals of the Jeux du Québec in 2022.

In recent months, we have held a brainstorming meeting, launch evening, presentations, and we have attended events, sent newsletters and informative flyers, as well as developed a dedicated website, among other initiatives, to promote local pride in the project.

The final candidature file is a document of over 450 pages. More than 60% of the sources of revenue have already been confirmed or guaranteed at the time of writing. SPORTSQUÉBEC now has everything it needs to make a final decision. Many sports and community organizations and businesses have supported the City’s nomination at different levels.

Finals in Châteauguay

The summer Finals of the Jeux du Québec will attract more than 3,300 athletes aged between 12 and 17 and 1,200 trainers, chaperones and officials from 19 regions across Quebec.

If the City is selected as the host, it will receive major grants to improve its infrastructure, including some that really need upgrading. The Finals of the Jeux du Québec will encourage the development of a regional feeling of belonging and foster the pride of representing and learning about sports, as well as promoting a physically active lifestyle and developing the skills of various stakeholders.

“We are very pleased to have completed this final stage in the nomination process and we are convinced more than ever before that holding this unique provincial event in Châteauguay will be beneficial for both present and future generations,” stated Pierre-Paul Routhier, Mayor of Châteauguay.

The decision will be announced by SPORTSQUÉBEC on December 16.
