Rehabilitation of Industriel Boulevard

At the City Council meeting of January 21, 2019, elected officials awarded the contract for the rehabilitation and modernization of Industriel Boulevard between Highway 30 and Pascal Street. This boulevard, which is the primary gateway to the City from Highway 30 West and the access road for businesses in the industrial park, has been in a poor condition for a number of years.

The new boulevard will have roller-compacted concrete (RCC) pavement and four lanes to ensure better traffic flow, sustainable development, access to the boulevard by foot and bicycle on a multi-use path, a stormwater drainage system, landscaping and a revamped city entrance.

Before work began, exploratory excavations were carried out in April 2019 by the contractor, Eurovia Québec. This made it possible to prepare a survey of information on existing structures and to plan the work to be carried out for the rehabilitation. In addition, Eurovia representatives visited the merchants affected by the work on the first section (between Ford Boulevard and Bombardier Street) in May.

Report on the work on Industriel Boulevard

This year’s work resulted in the construction of the RCC slab and curbs between Ford Boulevard and Bélanger Street, as well as the construction of the granular foundation of the bicycle path between these two road sections. The catch basins on Pascal Street and des Cascades Street are 90% complete. The storm sewer pipe between Ford and Pierre-Boursier boulevards and the storm sewer on Pascal Street, between Franklin Street and Industriel Boulevard, were also completed.

Private driveways have been repaired and the installation of streetlights continues in these areas.

Future work to come

Work will resume in mid-May and will include paving Industrial Boulevard and the bicycle path in two phases, between Ford Boulevard and Bélanger Street and from Bélanger Street to Pascal Street. This last section will also be equipped with streetlights, while landscaping will be carried out in both phases.

The work will involve levelling and paving the roadway between Exit 41 and Ford Boulevard, as well as the construction of the storm sewer between Pierre-Boursier Boulevard and Pascal Street and the construction of the RCC curbs and slab between Bélanger and Pascal streets.

Finally, the catch basins located on Des Cascades and Pascal streets will be finalized.

The work is scheduled for completion in September 2020.
