Huguette Huot Honoured by the Ville de Châteauguay

Wednesday, 18 December, 2019

Châteauguay, December 18, 2019At the last City Council meeting held on Monday, December 9, the councillors paid tribute to Huguette Huot, who was greatly involved in the community of Châteauguay, by naming a street “Place Huguette-Huot.”

Her two daughters, Manon and Diane Huot, as well as a dozen other members of her family and friends, came out for this tribute. The former Member of Parliament for Châteauguay Pierre Moreau, who knew her well, was also present. All were able to sign the City’s “golden book” in her memory.

The proposal was made by Councillor Michel Énault. “I had the good fortune to be mentored by this great lady and to become involved in my city. She had qualities that are rarely brought together in one person. She knew how to bring out the best in people. She always made it a point to introduce everyone and to connect with people. Politicians and merchants in the region can thank her for her contribution to our city’s economy. Châteauguay was her place. Dear Huguette, today, you will have your place,” he stated in an emotional speech.

A great lady

Ms. Huot passed away in 2018. She served on numerous boards of directors of non-profit organizations, including the Anna-Laberge Foundation, the Rencontre Châteauguoise and the Chambre de commerce du Grand Châteauguay.

Not only a pioneer in this region, but also in the province through her involvement in politics, as a volunteer and in business, she contributed to increasing women’s participation and benefited those who worked alongside her by sharing her vision and greatness of spirit.

Place Huguette-Huot will be located at the place formerly called 2 Salaberry Blvd. North. More details on the development of this project will follow in 2020. Those who wish to see or replay the excerpt of this tribute can do so on our YouTube Channel.
