Service de police de Châteauguay | 9-1-1 Call Centre Receives its Fourth Award – An Unusual Event in Quebec

Thursday, 30 January, 2020

Châteauguay, January 29, 2020The Ministère de la Sécurité Publique has confirmed the renewal of the certification of the Service de police de Châteauguay’s 9-1-1 Call Centre for a fourth consecutive year. At the time of its renewal, the Centre was the only one in the province to have obtained its certification four times in a row.

The award, which is for two years, was in recognition for the exceptional quality of the services provided by the 9-1-1 Call Centre which protects 76,000 residents in the municipalities of Beauharnois, Léry, Saint-Isidore and Châteauguay served by the Service de police de Châteauguay.

“Although it requires a lot of work, certification is important to us because it demonstrates our ability to work in a highly professional manner for the safety of our residents and all those who are protected by our police force,” explained Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier.

The certification process, led by our Telecommunications Supervisor, Marie-Ève Girard, is the result of complex, multidisciplinary work for which 9-1-1 employees are subject to protocols and the maintenance of demanding skills. The award also highlights the expertise of our Information Technology, Public Works and Urban Planning, and Fire department and Human Resources professionals.

The certification process requires us to meet many requirements, such as providing various elements, in compliance with the Civil Protection Act and the Regulation respecting standards, specifications and quality criteria applicable to  9-1-1 emergency centres.
