COVID-19 : The City Helps Various Organizations With a New Distress Fund

At a special meeting on Thursday, March 26, the Municipal Council released an amount of $100,000 from the City’s budget surplus to be able to assist Châteauguay organizations that work with persons in need.

Under certain conditions, this distress fund, for which each request will be analyzed by a plenary committee consisting of City councillors, will allow us to address critical needs during this COVID-19 crisis period. To date, an amount of $15,000 has already been given to La Rencontre Châteauguoise and another amount of $5,000 has been given to the Châteauguay Food Bank Association.

The City calls on the generosity of those who are able to give to persons living in precarious situations, whether it is time, money or resources. Moreover, the majority of the councillors contributed personally to a second fund, which is also being distributed according to the requests received.

Organizations that need more information about the distress assistance fund can contact the InfoDétresse Châteauguay hotline by calling 438-392-5948, 7 days a week from 8 am to 6 pm.
