Ville de Châteauguay Terminates its Service Contract for the Management of the Ecocentre

Tuesday, 22 October, 2019

Châteauguay, October 22, 2019  ̶  To give free rein to the investigation conducted by the Autorité des marchés publics (AMP), the Ville de Châteauguay, at a regular meeting of the City Council on October 21, decided to terminate the service contract for the management of its ecocentre binding it to Conteneurs Rouville.

Remember that in January, Centre de tri Mélimax, which had been initially contracted by the City to manage the ecocentre, was included on the Quebec Register of enterprises ineligible for public contracts (RENA) established by the AMP. Mélimax had then transferred the management of the contract to Conteneurs Rouville to ensure the continuation of the recuperation services offered to residents, among other things.

However, the steps taken by the AMP have since led to the launch of an investigation related to the awarding of the management contract for the ecocentre with the Ville de Châteauguay. Effective today, Tuesday, October 22, it will still be possible to use the recuperation services provided on the site for a fee that users must pay directly.

In the short term, the City will assess various options for the ecocentre’s management. More details will be provided once the analysis has been completed.
