Arms of Châteauguay

Coat of arms:

The arms of Châteauguay UNITA FORTIOR "Stronger Because United", this is the motto that is featured on the coat of arms of the City of Châteauguay

Recalling the fusion of the three municipalities, it only appears on the stationary and some official documents from city hall.

A maple leaf, a lily and a crown of towers represent the three levels of government.

History of Châteauguay

At the start of the XVIIth century, Samuel de Champlain explored and charted the region but it wasn’t until September 29, 1673 when the first step of colonization took place when the Count of Frontenac, the governor of New-France, ceded the “seigneurie” of Châteauguay to, who was already the “seigneur” of Longueuil.
