Châteauguay welcomes the Cambrai delegation to île Saint-Bernard

People visiting the Grey Nun's cemetery

As part of a tourist visit of the St. Lawrence River region, which notably took them to Niagara Falls, Ontario, a delegation from the Greater Cambrai area, Châteauguay’s twin city in France, stopped at the Île Saint-Bernard site to discover our historic jewel.

Around 40 people were greeted by Châteauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier who gave them an introduction to familiarize them with the grounds. The visitors then walked around the knoll of the island and saw the grotto, the Grey Nuns’ cemetery and the Pavillon de l’île.

Once the visit was over, the delegation headed to the Manoir D’Youville for a gourmet meal where local products were featured. During a speech in honour of Cambrai residents, Mr. Routhier expressed his wish to further strengthen the ties between the two cities, citing the academic partnership in which Collège Héritage is already involved, among other things.
